Week 9
Kia
Ora, this week is Maori Language Week.
This years focus is on pronouncing Maori names correctly, an excellent
website to help you is www.korero.maori.nz
We have set the children all up with a user name and password for a great basic
facts maths practice website called Sumdog.com.
This is just another fun way for the children to work on their recall
and accuracy of those all imprortant basic facts and timestables! If you
haven’t already done so please book an interview time online or contact the
office if you do not have internet access.
Also a reminder that school will finish at 2:00pm on Thursday 11th
July for interviews.
Have
a good week Trish and Ros

Big Day Out - Wigram Airforce Museum Trip
We had a fabulous day today at the Wigram Airforce Museum! We had a great time with Chris learning about the forces of flight: gravity, lift, thrust, drag.
We learnt heaps on our scavenger hunt in the gallery and even got to jump out of a plane in the hanger!
Thanks to all the awesome parents who came on this trip and helped us out.

Year 4 Update! - Please Read
Year 4 Update Friday 21st June
Monday 24th June
Wigram Air Force Museum
Please
be aware that we need to leave school on Monday 24th at 9.00am
sharp. The children will need to be seated ready for role call at 8.50am. It is
important that they bring a hearty lunch, some extra nibbles and a water
bottle. As it becomes quite cold in the hangers they must wear a warm jacket.
The
parents who are accompanying us on the trip also need to be in class with the
children at this time.
(Parents,
as we have a large number of parents accompanying us on the trip we may have to
car pool our parent helpers, please notify your class teacher if you are able
to help with transport.)
Choir
We
realize that this is a huge day for the children and therefore suggest that
they have time to rest, maybe have an afternoon sleep so as to be ready and
refreshed for the evening. They will need to be seated in the hall at 6.45pm in
their school uniform.
We
are confidant that the evening performance will be a highlight for you as the
children have practiced hard.
Year 4 Camp 23rd - 25th of October.
Our
Year 4 Camp is being held at Living Springs from the 23rd to the 25th
of October. All our Year 4 children attend. We rely on parents for transport to
and from camp and as camp parents for the duration of camp.
Early
in Term 3 we will issue camp permission forms; at this time we will ask for the
names of parents who will be available to assist. Traditionally we have more
volunteers than places available so it is often necessary to conduct a ballot.
This
year the school have been fortunate to receive a grant from the Red Cross to help
cover the cost of our camp however we still anticipate running a fundraising
activity to assist with the moderate cost that will be charged.
Activity Costs
Our
term activity cost is set at $15.00 per child. Please ensure that this is paid
to the office as soon as possible. (Any money unspent will be credited towards
our camp costs.)

Week 7
I hope you are all managing to stay dry and warm! Children are welcome to bring a pair of slippers to school, please remember to name all polar fleeces and jackets as we seem to be having a few go missing as children are moving from class to class for various activities.
Have a good week - Trish and Ros

Week 6
Wow, we are already half-way through the term this year is really flying with lots of exciting things happening. The children had a fun last week when the teachers from Science Alive came in to run some workshops relating to “forces”. Last week we also had an assessment focus so you may have had a few grumbles! Thank you for the offers of help for our Airforce Museum trip on Monday 24th – we look forward to seeing you all and will give you more information nearer the date.
